Is piracy hurting the companies? Yes
Is piracy wrong? No
is it your business that "piracy is hurting the companies"? no.
Is it my business to tell you how to do your business? no.
is piracy hurting the companies? yes and no is the only correct answer.
Is piracy wrong? no, why? there's only 2 kinds of people who pirate, those who pirate to try a game to see if it's for them or not before committing to a full purchase (whether they end up buying what they pirated or not is separate matter). and real pirates who companies will never see a dime from them regardless if they enjoy the games or not. and regarding old games no longer being sold it is not piracy, it's a service issue.

Idk

If they started selling SMB for NES on steam or some other platform, I'm pretty sure I would still pirate it

Maybe I would consider it if they sold digital copies for like 20-30¢

I lied, I'm one of the biggest pirates of games there is. I was talking about the pirates with an eye patch. That kind of pirate can hurt someone.

that's it, that's part of the service issue, most people like myself only grab stuff on Steam etc once it bypasses atleast 60% off, sometimes 90% off or more, unless it's something i really wanted so ofc i'd totally "support the devs". This is something Nintendo never does, it will sell you these 'classic' games with prices like they were released just today..

ive usually never done piracy because well... i have a pride in buying things myself, it makes it feel like i actually worked towards something. Plus theres tons of great software out there thats free. Even if i had the money i wouldnt spend it on software, because i already have the perfect workflow. As for games, if youre pirating games, get a life dude. And lastly, no, its not wrong, its...literally illegal
