I have a Windows Xbox Controller which i bought for use with my Laptop.

Waiting for my xbox to be delivered and working out what i need in terms of hardware.

Does anyone know if i can also use the Windows xbox controller on the xbox itself?

Yeah its one of these:

So i can just press the centre button and the xbox will detect it?

Yeah, there should be a sync button on the top of the controller. It looks like a small white dot. Hold the center button down till the controller powers on, then hit the white button to begin syncing the controller. You will also need to hit the sync button on the Xbox 360. Depending on which Xbox 360 you own the sync button is located in different locations. The old Phat models have a small white or black dot to the left of the USB ports. The Xbox 360 Slim sync button is adjacent to the USB Port window.
