Gaming PC Overheating and random Shutdown HELP!!!

i need help Asap

my CPU is overheating when playing games or open web browser like google chrome, when i gaming on my PC, the CPU Temperature goes to 100+ Celsius Degrees even when i play CS Strike 1.6, the CPU temperature goes to 90 Celsius degrees o_0 i tried thermal paste and it still the same, i cleaned up the whole PC and it still the same.

my PC specs:

CPU: intel core 2 duo e6550 with stock fan
Ram: 2GB DDR2
GPU: Gigabyte GT420 2GB DDR3
Power supply: 500W
CPU fan speed: 2600RPM

Is it overclocked (Does the cooler has good contact with the cpu)(get better thermal paste and cooler)?

Clean your fans.

Also, >Google Chrome.

i tried to overclock the cpu and i wish i hadn't done it, i returned everything to original (reset/default settings) and it still the same, i applied the thermal paste to the cpu 2 times and it still the same, i cooled down the heatsink and cleaned all the fans and it still the same

Probably didn't install the CPU fan properly. Not secured properly, or WAY too much/too little thermal paste.

Pictures from the top and side would help.

Clean the paste and look up a guide to do it properly, use a quality paste like Arctic Silver.

• What were your normal temps before this prob? Is your home warm, Spring is here and summer is coming.
  
• Are your fans running at proper speed? BIOS options > Set to max.
  
• Did you clean out the dust bunnies?
• Are you confident your graphics card isn't failing?

If your temps were good previously it has to be your thermals fucked, fans are fucked, or heat sync is fucked or some combination of all of the above.


Noticed your second post, how did you overclock?

In the bios or a software tool?

If it is a software tool make sure it is uninstalled and everything is set to normal in bios, F7 for optimized defaults in most bios.

I had a similar problem. Deactivating cool 'n quiet in the BIOS solved it.

i fixed my Problem it was the bios overclocking, it was 3.54GHZ instead of 2.33GHZ (original GHZ) thanks for help man, the BIOS reset didn't do anything
