I'm going to jump in here with a question really quick.

I'm having a hard time finding an RTS to suit my needs. I like C&C Generals, but in online play I just get rushed immediately and lose within five minutes. To me speed clicking doesn't equal strategy. Also, I've gotten Sins of a Solar Empire. LOVED IT. However, the scale and length of the individual matches make it pretty much impossible to play online.

So, I was hoping someone's played something that hits a midpoint between these two games. Utilizing real strategy while moving at a decent pace, but not so that I never get an opportunity to blink.

Thanks.

BattleZone II skirmish modes might suit you even though it is RTS mixed with FPS.

these are game I can think of that can run on your machine. (these are all that pop in my head)

FPS:
Half life 1,2,ep1,ep2: These games are awsome, the story is great, had plenty of puzzles but not that hard. Best of all, when your done with the game, there are a ton of mods to play

Far cry: Awesme game, very good gameplay and a has a sorta sand box feel to it. There are many different ways to complete a mision. I don't know if you can play Far Cry 2 but if you an, get it.
Counter strike: Source: VERY ADDICTING!

RTS:
Comand & Concour:

That's all I can think of right now.

homeworld 2 may suit you, although you still have to be pretty fast once a battle starts
