The day I start scoffing at titles because they don't directly compare to their predecessors is the day I begin to no longer enjoy the new games.
that's not the case of color splash lol. i don't want paper mario TTYD 2, but i don't want Sticker Star 2, and Color Splash IS SS2
I still think it remains to be seen. Although the battle wheel is gone, the actual battle commands are not shown. I'll be happy as long as a)they don't make bosses difficult to kill if you don't have the equivalent to the special sticker and b)they don't force a system that even restricts the number of basic jumps and hammer attacks.

Oh wow, I'm disappointed with Nintendo about Paper Mario series now since I was big fan of Paper Mario on N64 and TTYD on Gamecube (rental only).

Seriously, the game better not rely on paint like De Blob did. Probably because I suck at it, but getting the right paint color is tedious af sometimes

I'll have to replay De Blob, but if I recalled correctly red goes on red things and green goes on green things and it wasn't hard to guess. And here the paint color is picked automatically you just have to thwack it with a hammer, kind of like Engineer whaling on a sentry with a wrench in order to make high precision repairs.

I'd be surprised if this was anything but a slightly better version of Sticker Star. I mean, it couldn't possibly be worse, but there's no way it'll be much better.

So, Nintendo instead of making it a better and creative/inspired game they're more concerned that PM:CS will have photo realistic objects of all things.
You make that sound like a bad thing. The whole idea behind "Paper" Mario is to be as realistic as possible. The N64 has very low resolution polygons, and the whole paper mechanic was introduced to get around that. Besides, squirting lemon juice at the enemies is hilarious.
