Also...given how SD cards are solid-state (or...do I have this wrong?), I wonder if it'd be possible to rig up a computer to recognize one of those as the C drive or whatnot? It would be technology put to good use for laptops and other microcomputers.

It's possible now with SD - IDE adaptors. Might even be an SD-Sata out there.
