Hello everyone!

I'm really interested in exploring ways to play online on a modded Nintendo Switch, especially through community-hosted servers.
So far, I’ve found the following options:
  1. LAN Play – Seems mostly inactive nowadays.
  2. TagNX / FortPatcherNX
  3. Super Mario Bros. 35 – Community server exists, but appears to be empty.
  4. Super Mario Maker 2 – Community servers are running.
  5. SuperTuxKart – A homebrew game with online multiplayer support.
  6. RetroArch Netplay – Works for supported retro games.
Are there any other options out there, especially ones involving community servers or alternative matchmaking? Would it make sense to start compiling a list of custom online solutions for modded Switch consoles?

the main problem at least i keep running into is the switch calling to BIG N’s servers, there’s really no way to bypass it unless it’s baked into atmosphere, like pretendo network is with wii U. I’m sure one day we’ll reach a point of LAN play or even self hosted server play but for now i see no loopholes

Also on Linux you can play legacy Call of Duty games (MW1,2 and others) via custom community server either IW4X or Plutonium Launcher. Other Windows games can be played online as well if they are DRM free.

Also while we are at it, latest PPSSPP on Linux/Android allows for automated custom server connection.

Azahar allows you to host and join such servers and other emulators like Dolphin.

Hi, I’ve also been looking for some information about this type of gaming for a few days now, mainly to try playing with my girlfriend using two separate consoles, both with CFW. Do you know more about it? Can I contact you privately, maybe on Telegram or Reddit?

there is custom servers for og 7 season of fornite by ezfn
and i know about a homebrew called classicraft, it has online servers + crossplay between all platforms, its like old versions of minecraft

I thought things like DNS90 (or whatever it’s called) and incognito (my preference) prevented contacting Nintendo servers while still giving the console access to the internet.

Also wanted to throw this in the thread also as I have been searching for work around a for online play or how to use tunneling software (like xlink-Kai) on my switch as well.

I found something called sysmodule ldn_mitm that apparently patches the local online play (uses ad-hoc protocol that directly connects console to console without the need for router or actual internet and not the same as LAN) to normal LAN.

I have not tested it myself yet so do so at your own risk at this point I’m not certain how current the module is kept or what firmwares it’s compatible with at this point in time.

Using this and something like another pc (or a cheaper solution like a pi) WIRED to your router and using the xlink-Kai program this should be easily achievable for 2 consoles running CFW.

Hello, this is the closest thread I have found to what I'm looking for.

I have two modded switches, latest firmware, lates atmosphere, both banned. Looking to play little nightmares 3 coop with my daughter but it only has the option to go "full online" for this. Any ideas?

*have done plenty of googling (before any smart a$$ says it is all over the place, it is not)

If its online there is nothing you can do atm. Hopefully in the future. You would need local for it to work.

Have people been banned for playing totally legit copies of games on a modded switch? I love being able to manage my saves and edit my acnh islands but I'm so nervous about getting banned. I don't pirate games.

If you have a clean NAND then you should be alright, clean NAND mean no nsp or xci installed on the NAND before.

Hopefully I'm good. I use cartridge games but my partner had to download updates for animal crossing as I don't go online with it out of ban fear. So...maybe not?
