I tried to load up my oblivion game (no-dvd patch) and i got a d3dx9_27.dll error. I tried downloading a directx but it gave me an error, probably because it was outdated but i am unsure. When i recieved the error, i loaded up my .exe file and the pc went to a black screen to show it loaded up oblivion, then it suddenly closed. I do not know what the problem is or where to download Directx 11+ for windows 7, help will be greatly appreciated.

This may seem a tad overkill, but downloading the DirectX SDK and installing it usually solves all DirectX related problems.

You know you don't have to crack oblivion, right?

You can just leave the disk mounted.

edit: and even if your problem isn't being caused by a shoddy crack, just mounting the disk will save you from any crack related problems later on.

things to try are if you have any unofficial mods or patches at all oblivion has major problems on windows 7
also try installing direct x 9
and get the latest official game patch from their website

most likely just turning off the mods will fix it oblivion wont run for me with any mods at all on win7 even though they worked fine on xp and vista

uesp.net is a great resource for info on The Elder Scrolls games. Go there and get unofficial patches and such.
also are you running x86 or x64 windows 7? a lot of people have had problems with x64 and oblivion but it can be worked out so google should be able to help

I'd check the load order for your mods. If they're loaded in an incorrect order Oblivion fucks up at launch and crashes.

    Oblivion Mod Manager
can attempt to detect the correct load order, but in a few cases it does not quite work. It's worth a try nonetheless.

Oblivion works perfectly in Win7 x64 for me on all of my computers, I doubt that's the issue.

Well the problem with Oblivion is that the GameByro Engine sucks. [IMG]

Personally I never had problems with Oblivion at all but a friend of mine couldn't even finish the game because it was so buggy on his PC.

Nonetheless it´s a great game and i´m really looking forward for the the next part.

well that's great for you, but it didn't for me without copying some files, specifically .dll files which he mentions is the problem and based on my research apparently a lot of other people have had problems with it as well so it very well could be the issue. It's especially prominent in downloaded versions which i would assume he has since he said he was using ISOs

It's a well known fact that Windows 7 does not come with all DirectX files ever released which is why I suggested the download of the DirectX SDK.

And pirated copies has more problems? I don't see how that could be related to Windows 7 - Sounds more like the cracks aren't doing their job properly.

I'm not saying you're wrong or that I'm right, I'm just saying it could possibly be what I said since you said "I doubt that's the issue" even though really it could be

It's all fixed up now, one problem was the missing .dll, and another was just a simple unfunctioning mod that kept closing the game. Oblivion is working perfectly now with mods (minor conflicts, nothing to worry about)
