Gaming Oblivion Help :D.

So, I want to have a perfect playthrough.
Holidays ahead, so I figured its a good time to do it now.

Dont want to create a character and struggle in the middle of the game -.-.

I prefer close combat more, but a little bit of magic wont harm.

Argonian was my first choice, but not perfect for close combat.. Redguard is also something I was looking into.

Any suggestions? Class/Gender/Birthsign

Just do what I did. Pick the character that would seem most fun to you. The game is easy enough to play through with any given character, especially if you purposely stay low-leveled (which is quite ironic but true all the same).

If you get stuck somewhere, you can always lower the difficulty setting, get through the hard part, then put it back where it was.

Well yeah. Seems like nothing is perfect.
I prefer melee/Blade, so Orc and Redguard are good choices

Started yesterday as Redguard Male. Played through quite a bit, but still level 1 lol.
Its been a while since I played Oblivion the last time, but heck.. time to level up by 1 at least

You do know about auto-leveling right?
The enemy is brought to the same level as you

I could finish the game at level 3

But I leveled up to level 5

.(had to start all over again though.).

Seems like my custom class was a big mess..

Yeah, I know about the autolevel, but it gets quite unbalanced as the game progresses. The first time I played it I played as a mage. Atr level 2 the imps were quite easy to beat, but by the time I was at level 15 they were large trolls which were impossible to get past without changing the difficulty-level. I found that the game is easier when you pick a class opposite of the one that you want to play to ensure your level stays low.

Aparantly they are going to have the auto-leveling on Skyrim too.
Kind of dissapointing in a way..

orc for close cobat, you do like some magick; so redguard would be best I guess. I have fisished all the side missions as an assasin but not the main mission. It is always the same, go here meet so and so, get this, come back.
Elder scrolls use to be my favourite game, I hope skyrim is more "compelling".

I always use Orcs just because they can carry a shitload of stuff. I always steal abnormally big amounts of loot so the Orc is essential for that.
On the magic part I always picked Restoration as a major simply because it's so easy to level up like that. You can use the Minor heal whenever you want, even if your health is already 100%. Furthermore pick Acrobatics, Sneak and Sword OR Blunt as a major. I always picked those majors, the rest isn't that important.

I wanted to finish the game on the hardest difficulty possible, which seemed impossible.. at least for me

. Always had to put the difficulty bar down a bit to adjust as I went along with the story.

I am playing Gothic 4 now, but will get back to Oblivion afterwards.
Warrior with restoration is pretty much the best choice for me.
