What is QTE? I'm really confused?

I am still enjoying CoD AW but there is an unacceptable amount of lag for me. Even after the patch it is still lagging, especially on the maps with big events like a tsunami for example (one time it took 7 mins for the lag to subside on that map). I'm on PC btw

Quick Time Event

like when games make you hit buttons to advance a sequence...like every God of War boss, or Tell Tale games.

Though in the example a few posts above me it's just a button prompt...not a QTE.
