Homebrew not64 doesn't launch

I was trying to run some N64 emulation on my WiiU: I put not64 on my SD card, then went to the Wii homebrew channel; the program is listed but when I launch it the app just freezes.

P.S. can I use a USB N64 replica controller to play N64 games?
