PS1/2 Noob Question

How can I play PSX backups
on a modded PS2?

Hardmodded? - Most likely just insert the disc. If not, look at instructions from your mod.

Softmodded? - Only works on few models and you need an original ps1 game. Don't know if the size if that game matters. (high TOC...)
Insert the ps1 game, let the ps2 detect that it is a ps1 disc. Then go into uLaunchELF, make sure it stops the drive(maybe you need to change a setting for that). Then swap the disc with your backup. (swap = change disc without the drive knowing) Then select boot disc or what it is called in uLaunchELF. If you see the Playstation logo, you did it correctly. If it freezes there, your model can't run ps1 backups. I know that V8 and earlier won't work for this, and V9 does.

Oh sorry I didnt make myself clear. It has a modchip.

It doesnt recognize PSX backups on CD or PSX backups on DVD either.

At any rate, which is better? use CD for PSX games or DVDs?

Also, is there any thing that I should know before burning the images?

Samething happened to me, I gave up. I know I was missing a step but didn`t want to screw around with it anymore. Something to do with pressing the reset button twice when it boots up?
PSX are smaller in size they will fit on a CD

I don't see how PSX on dvd could ever work on ps2; CD is your only option. Also when your talking about rate I think you mean burn speed-- Slower is ALWAYS better. Else than that to help you more, you could tell us what kind of modchip you have... theres pretty good PSX emulators on PC also that is another solution.

I have a slim moddel with a matrix infinity clon (modbo) chip
You need to do a swap trick with an origanal PS1 game Run Ulaunch 4.4 from usb get it to boot up COGSWAP.ELF put your origanal in get it to read country codes then it will stop and you swap it for your burnt Ps1 disk. You will need to block your 3 sensors 1st is under left rear hinge small grey switch inside the console the others are the brake for disk and front sensor on top of power switch
