Hacking Noob question: why seperate partition for EmuMMC?

Okay, then what do you mean by the program you used to make the partition? Did you not just make the emuNAND through the Switch itself?
Hekate looks for an already formatted second partition that it writes to, making the EmuMMC. When i would create a second partition with windows Hekate refused to see a proper partition. After using several different 3rd party programs, AOMEI partition assistant finally worked for me.
Is there a better way, am i missing something?

Hmm, not sure. I've only done it with SX OS. It's way easier there :P

Try launching EmuMMC/Emunand if it boots you should be good. Change your theme from black to white or white to black. Turn off switch boot sysnand and see if your change to place there or not. If it didn’t change then you know 100% that EmuMMC/Emunand is on the smaller partition. Leave the themes different so you know if your in CFW or Stock.

Thanks for this, did this already and the themes are different, so good news is looks like its all working then.
