Don't forgot that you can also download digital titles if you plan to use it for a while before repairing the drive. You can also use this to use different modes in Loadiine.

Thanks so much! I guess modding the vwii side is out till I can try and repair this disc drive
Do you mean it won't let you insert discs at all? It could be the motor that handles that part just needs to be replaced, which should be a simple fix once you have the console open. However, whether you can find replacement motors is another matter...
It could also be that the sensor which detects discs is broken.
Does it make any noise at all if you press the eject button? It could help narrow down exactly what's wrong with it.

This arises other questions:
- Are WiiU Disc Drives replaceable?
- Are WiiU Disc Drives serialised to only work on the WiiU that its originally connected to (google same issue "iPhone 5s/6/6s Fingerprint Sensor non-replaceable issue (afaik, apple already fixed this issue via iOS update)).

If answer to first is Yes, then what are the Disc Drives (except official WiiU Disc Drives specifics) that can we use to replace it?

I reckon these are both hardware (brand and model disc drives) and software specific

There is a drive key that's unique to every console (this is why Wii U ODEs haven't been released yet as the only way to get the drive key is by using an IOSU exploit which would render the ODE pointless), so replacing the whole drive probably wouldn't work, but you can take the mainboard from the existing drive and put it into another drive and as long as the mainboard itself isn't faulty it should work.
Regardless, only a Wii U drive can be used in a Wii U, it uses a modified bluray format and there's nothing else on the market that supports this.

When I turn the console on it makes the standard drive noises when I put in a disc it sits in there for a second then spits it out, sucks it back in then spits it out and repeats

That's odd, maybe it thinks something is blocking the disc making it eject it. Not sure how to fix that.

Me neither the guy I got it from says there's a disc inside but a regular dvd goes in fine but then it spits it out I'm tempted to try a wii game to see if it accepts the disc... Update tried wii sports disc goes in for a second drive makes the disc inserting/ejecting noise and spits the disc out almost instantly
