So this started happening today on my mum's laptop and I've been trying to figure out what's wrong for an hour.
When you plug in a wireless mouse, Windows detects it and installs the driver, but when you move the mouse, the cursor doesn't move at all. I've tried multiple mice we have at home and all of them react this way. My wired mouse works.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple drivers, and restarting the computer. So far, nothing has worked.
Her laptop is running Windows 10.

What brand of wireless mouse is it? My old Logitech one with a little USB dongle numb thing worked fine on Windows 10 version 1809 build 18272.1000.

This is kind of urgent
Sorry no disrespect meant with this comment but in what possible way can getting a mouse to work be urgent. Its hardly a life or death type situation.

Anyway try these steps:

  1. Right-click on Start button and select Device Manager.
  2. Click the arrow next to Mice and other pointing devices to collapse.
  3. Right-click on HID-compliant mouse or similar driver and select Properties.
  4. Click on Driver tab.
  5. Click Uninstall Device.
  6. Restart your computer.
  7. Plug mouse back in
  8. Your mouse driver will automatically reload upon restarting the computer.
