The issue on whether retail Wii games are DVDs is complex.

They're unlicensed, aren't called DVDs by Nintendo (note the lack of logo), and don't use a file system readable by DVD drives/burners normally. But the physical discs themselves are virtually identical.

theres a solution to all this shinannygon! or however its spelt lol.

As far as I am aware, Waninkoko Released a Cios that reads DVD discs of any kind. Anyway Marcan and team are releasing a new Lib for devkitpro that will allow you to read discs anyway without cios.

so what happens is

Someone makes a DVD reading app using the lib, Implents safety feature such as, Readahead_buffer so the laser has to read a bit, have a break, read a bit more so on, instead of on the fly reading. keep the disc spinning at a normal speed, not faster but maybe slower if it dosnt have to keep reading it much.

there we go, dvd is here with safety.
