No backwards Compatibility on the PS3 Slim?

I dont see what the fascination is either with BC on the PS3. There is nothing worse then looking at a last gen game on a nice new 1080p TV. If you wanna play ps2 games then get a ps2! Simples

PS1 games are upscaled to 1080p

People who wondered why the PS3 Slim will cost 300 dollars for a 120 GB model, that is one of the reasons why, the 160 GB fatty is 100 bucks more but probably doesn't have the backwards compatibility. Now everyone can drop it that the PS3 Slim and all models will have backwards compatibility, I knew it wouldn't and who really cares? If you can afford a PS3 and want to play some old PS2 games, I am sure it wouldn't kill you to own a PS2 for it, they are pretty cheap.

Well, if you think about it, getting a brand new PS3 Slim and a brand new PS2 is about $400, the cost of a PS3 right now. And the PS2 has some of the best games ever made, and missing out on them is a bummer. Not to mention there's some things that are lost in BC (like Xbox 360 can't play Xbox games better than the original).

Now I want a PS3 Slim, MGS4, and Killzone 2 for Christmas. Damn you, Sony!

Most people who want to play PS2 games probably still have a PS2.

Its ironic that the 360 and PS3 both have much better graphics then the Wii and that it sucks at something simple like backwards compatibility while the Wii's is almost flawless, minus the lack of USB Loader of course

i still think ps2 games really promote the ps3 rather than the ps3 itself though many do pirate ps2 games

Sucks for me. I never bought a Playstation and never botherd with the PS2 and so fourth.
Never cared too much for the games in general, just arcade ports and the like anyway.
So now the only way for me to play the older games is to buy a PS2 or stick to emulators.
I'd rather just stick with a single do it all machine.

I'd buy it for blue ray maybe, but I don't care about that too much, PS3 games have no real appeal to me besides some rare ones now and then, but they usually have an Xbox360 port, so not a whole lot of need for that, could just get a 360 instead.
So ya, pretty much, this seals the deal with me. Not touching a PS3 slim at all. To me its nearly useless and not worth the cash.
Though I'd hope they'd at least sell some ultimate do everything versions on a site or something.
I'd rather shell out my cash for the full version than some limited thing I might barely use at all.
But that's just me.

Just found out the price of a PS3 Slim here, while it certainly is cheaper, it is not cheap enough for me to be able to buy it without feeling ripped off.

it was $100 more back then because it included uncharted and PAIN and double the hard drive space
but that was when uncharted was $60, not the best deal now...
