I take it this didn't work since you never reported back on it?

If hbmenu works but another app renamed to hbmenu doesn't, then wouldn't that narrow it down to the app being the problem?

Sorry got kinda discouraged then busy, but yes, just tried this and it does INDEED work >.<

i swapped snes emu for it, weird that even that couldnt even SEE the /switch/ folder when loading "content" /scratcheshead

You ever figure this out? Same situation as you. Tried all the things suggested here so far.

I had the same problem too and fixed it.
If you have a spare micro SD card, you don't need to erase or reset anything. Format your spare card to FAT32 (if using guiformat, make sure that it's been set to FAT32 and not ExFAT), then put your homebrew files there. Power off your Switch, swap SD cards, and retry.

I ended up using my laptop just now, formated fat32, started fresh with all my downloads, put in right folders, went through properties on each and made sure read-only was un checked, copied everything over to sd, and magically it now works \(0.o)/

I'm not sure if this tool was available back in May, but I found a solution in the [Tools] menu of the hekate_ctcaer_3.2.bin payload. There's an option under the Misc list to "unset archive bit <switch folder>" (see attached) that fixed the issue for me.

I also have the same issue. However, my files are all working when I formatted the card to FAT32. When I formatted the card to ExFAT (needed for bigger games) then the SWITCH folder wouldn't be recognized. Any ideas? thanks.

I'm having the exact same issue as above.

I'm gonna bump this thread just in case someone else get this error.
I'd say that the "archive" bit was the culprit

All I did to fix this error was:
  1. selecting all the files and folders in the root of the microSD card
  2. Right click -> Properties
  3. Uncheck read-only (check then uncheck, in case it was already unchecked)
  4. Click on Advanced
  5. Uncheck "File/Folder is ready for archiving"
  6. Ok -> Ok -> Apply recursively to all file and folders
And magically the switch folder was seen again from hbmenu.

Hekate has a build in "Remove archive bit" feature. This would save you from manualy doing this.

just duplicate the "switch" folder and then rename it to "switch-old" , and change the new duplicate folder name back to "switch" then it all go back. so it worked , maybe the folder priviledge issues.
