Gaming Nintendogs help

ok i just got into nintendogs and i want a pug as my dog what version would i need to get to play as a pug

i have the nintendogs best friend edition and i have a beagle but it says i can unlock a pug ? if i unlock the pug can i use the pug ?

The pug comes from Dachshund and Friends as a starter dog. To get it in the Best Friends version, you have to either get 14,000 Trainer Points or meet a pug in Bark Mode. (According to what I read on GameFAQs). I never got in to the game enough to be able to confirm this though.
