Nintendo Switch 2 announced by Nintendo

After months of countless leaks, Nintendo has finally lifted the curtain on the highly anticipated successor to the Nintendo Switch.

In a short teaser trailer we are given a brief look the new system unsurprisingly titled the Nintendo Switch 2. We also get a glimpse at a new Mario Kart game running on the system and confirmation of backwards compatilbility with Nintendo Switch software and game cards.

We also see the new joycons being pushed along like a traditional computer mouse, further fueling the rumor that the joycons will support a "mouse mode".

I won't lie. If that happened, I would not be able to stop laughing for days. I don't hope for a company to fail (Epic excluded), but it's going to be interesting.
Post automatically merged:

Metroid Prime 4 and Mario Kart 9 as launch titles would be a strong argument to purchase the system. I do hope they more in the works though.
Mario Kart 9 + Mario Odyssey 2 and that's it, I'll pre-order it asap.

It does suck the online play is behind a subscription. Speaking of... If they make a new tier with GCN/Wii games I'll pay for it even though I've already downloaded the games I wanted.

The day and age where the so-called gaming company of innovation releases their next big console: the previous name, more ports, better processing and a 2, and it can now be a tablet.

I might understand why Gunpei, who came up with the game boy, virtual boy, wario, daisy, and the metroid series, left the company.

This reminded me of the PS5 Pro trailer. Does it not occur to anyone at these huge corporations that if you're gonna release a console that's nothing more than a performance upgrade then at the very least you have to include something that shows the bloody performance upgrade!

Do they want people to think the only difference is some magnets and a different kickstand?

.... tried what?
They tried making very few fun games, forcing motion controls on what looks like a great star fox game for that console, and wondering why many got upset when the switch games made most of them obsolete, and yet they _still_ said no to an updated star fox zero switch with standard controls. It can be great to be experimental in many cases, but somehow I don't see how they thought that would be a great idea from the start.

Looks trash :)

My prediction may be correct: Switch 2 will indeed have VR.

The USB-C port at the top is for VR headset. The launch titles are MarioKart 9 and Metroid Prime 4. MK VR has already been made by Namco for the arcade, it will be easy for Nintendo to improve it for Switch 2. Metroid Prime is Nintendo's only first person game, it's perfect for VR. The fact that they will be launch this year suggests: VR.

That's the "one more thing" for Nintendo: images of Switch 2 was leaked - Nintendo didn't even care, because the surprise and gimmick this time is an accessory that's still hidden.

Also, NSO retro games will be introducing DS and 3DS games with the Switch 2 - in VR you can have as many screens as you want, it won't matter. 3D stereoscopic will also be possible with VR as shown by Citra 3D emulator for Meta Quest.

Labo 2?

it looks the exact same so the first legit leaker was correct lol, its okay i guess but not interested in it to get it. i am good with my switch, plus glad that tendo is going to allow switch 1 customers to use play switch 2 games as well, however, i know not all will work logically on switch one.

yet i cannot wait for the moronic tears to flow in when the fat mouths that sat there and kept re-playing the same broken record line, see that the switch 2 games are going to be compatible on switch 1; the supposed "wEAk oUTdaTED cOnsOle" even though it was dang obvious that those ports were done by people that do not know how to do the job of porting at all ☠️...goodness gracious we got kingdom come deliverince, etc (like look at peach showtime they used unreal engine 5 on this dusty tablet lol) and they get dumbfounded that its possible which is ironic.
now enough of my tiny slap here and comment that i do love the color choice design feature on the drift 2 lol.. but seriously it looks cool now i can only imagine how the cases, decorations are gonna be for this super giant apple tablet... hmm e H e... hehe i couldnt okay but let me stop xD, uhh what else? i like the magnetic clip on which could have been on the switch one or they could have easily fixed the issue for us screwed drift customers, but dont worry someone who does not work for this company already did that c:!!!!!!....

This whole reveal was sweet? but it felt bland to me, i would have thought that they would present it to us or at least make it appear like the 3ds or before console trailers all fun but.. this is just like litereally seeing a corporate company announce another new toys of theres, buuut i am hoping the information about it will be interesting to watch. I am just lost as to why its gonna take so long? Odd, but maybe its for the best..-yes i know what i just stated don't quote me, just curious is all.

Oh crap forgot to mention the elephant in the trailer the stinking mario kart 9 drop was out of theblue that i was dumbfounded completely i had to rewind to see if theres anything new and there is e v e so far i caught the fact...

they removed the ugly racing bike suits, saw peach driving the bike without it - thank you for that <3!! now if we can just get an option to swap out outfits that would be neat without microtransaction... haaa... i hope this does not come to pass...
donkey kong got a 'redesign' he looks like his old super design that I've seen years, years ago online and i since forgot about it.. now that i am reseeing it i am glad they changed it.. his eyes lgit creep me the hell out man, i remembered while watching the video why i didnt like that design at all.
the vehicles look more fantasy mixed with kart realistic if that makes sense? its just good to see that i also saw the update for the main kart it looks cute like it reminds of a fun kart arcade place product.
the new stage looks really, really good i love it and its a yoshi stage <3 my baby dino getting love.

with that being long listed, saiiiddddd i cant wait for mario kart 9 i am just hoping it works on switch one please
T-T

I don’t know if anyone said this but I think that extra button that supposedly was called a c button in the leaks, is for Wii U games. You press that and the system will cast the game and the switch will become the game pad, I believe the image of the switch 2 if I’m seeing correctly has the extra button. That to me would explain why Nintendo talked about the Wii U the other day.
