Sony did it for selected games with selected publisher. You are proposing for all VC to be linked. Not all publishers are going to jump on this.

hmm i thought it was all games, i remember seeing somewhere that all future games will be that way for multiplats. between ps3, ps4, & vita.

Actually, Nintendo is a public company. Anything short of licensing is a violation and Nintendo will get sued if it doesn't bring DVD + Bluray support via proper implementation. But to bring DVD and Bluray would mean paying licensing fee to boards behind them, and Sony is a board member. Nintendo doesn't seem to want to pay competition.
