At its last investor's presentation in January, Nintendo announced it was working on a new 2D Mario adventure game. Outside of a release date prior to April 2013, no further details were given by company president Satoru Iwata. However just days ago, Nintendo registered a domain for 'supermario4.com'.

The publisher isn't attempting to hide this registry. A quick search shows that Nintendo of America controls the domain, and typing in the address will actually redirect to Nintendo's website. It's important to keep in mind that the registry doesn't directly indicate the presence of a product - companies tie up URLs all the time - but it could mean something.

Of course, while our immediate suspicions point towards this being the 2D 3DS game, it could be something else entirely - a Wii U launch title, perhaps?

Didn't we hear news or hints of super mario world being remade with super mario wii graphics for the 3ds a year+ ago?

This doesn't really mean all that much right now; like Emigre said, Nintendo might just be making sure that no one can get to the domain first. Then again, it just might. Who knows?

I guess we'll have to wait until E3 (if they're making anything, I'm sure they'll announce it there) to find out.

Might be referring to the 2D Mario game that's coming for the 3DS.

Meh, I grew tired of the Super Mario series after Super Mario Sunshine.
Clearly you haven't played Super Mario Galaxy, the best platformer released this gen (not even exaggerating).

I have, for some reason it didn't interest me as much as SMS did. >.>

When is Nintendo going to release a full on Wario or Luigi platformer for this gen? Make another Wario World type game for the Wii U and 3DS!

O:
Well I don't know what to say here. I assume you've played more than one level (but even that shouldn't be a problem) .
Yeah I played through it and all...Haha I dunno, something just didn't feel right about it to me.

After what happened with the last Warior Platformer, I am not sure that it would be the best idea >.>

But if they do it right, another Wario Land style game would be great. I loved those games :)

You aren't alone. I thought the games were good and all, but the wii-mote controls really stopped me from enjoying it to the full potential. I got rid of Mario Galaxy before I got my Classic controller, but i want to give it a new go.

Sounds more like Ninty just covering their backs regarding web addresses. Activision and Square Enix have dome similair actions in the past.
this. but still surprised it's taken nintendo so long to scoop up that domain.

if this is a real thing though watch it be just like sonic 4
