VC & GC don't need wiimote...

the position of every buttons and pads are for a full uncomfortable playing...

Don't get excited over this, guys. There is a good chance we will never see it actually produced

I love seeing new patents just as much as anyone else, I'm just warning people so they don't say 'OMG that is sooo cool I WANT IT NOW!' and then not have it actaully come out.

I'm all for digging through online patents! I just don't get my hopes up

Too bad this isn't likely to come out. My brother can't play the Wii well, because of his disease (no muscle strength at all). He's really wanted to play some of the games though: he can still play with a controller well enough--we'd pay a good sum for a functional controller that could still allow the IR movement, but instead feature some extra help for pointing (retrograde from the Wiimote to an analog stick again) and maybe even a motion of throwing.

Makes me think of this:

I still haven't found a single use for the controller to be attached to the wii remote other than for convenience sake. No games that use the classic controller support rumble, IR or motion sensing (when the classic controller is used). It's too bad because SSBB with the classic controller like this would be cool. Or Mario Kart Wii.

I'd like to see F-Zero for Wii (when it inevitably comes out) use this controller setup so that you could use the analog controller for usual steering but the motion sensing capabilities for edge turns or something.

But that'll never happen.

Ha ha ha ha ha!
You are all fools!
Its actually an NDS attachment that requires a GBA slot adapter that strangly looks like a wiimote!

Fools! All of you!

And it'll be released next year in April.

Cause I know stuff! More than Hadrian!

Ha ha ha hah ah ah ah ah ah aha! *cough* ahem.... hahahahahahahahha.
*implodes*

Seroiusly though, Im glad it wasnt released. The design kinda stinks. Too flat.
The SNES style makes alot more sense and Gamecube controllers aren't hard to come by.
Would actually be cool to see it as a DS controller though, despite making it even more difficult to play.

You know, thinking of it further.... it looks a lot like a Neo Geo pocket without the screen and more buttons!
GASP!
Actually, the other prototype pics remind me more of the NGP than the first one, the box like design and the cuts in the sides for instance.

Am I the only one who thinks that looks uncomfortable? Especially Wiimote shifting center of mass towards the front, opposed to your body side of GC controllers?
Yeah I pretty much said the same on the first page. I really do hope that this doesn't come to anything, looks crap.

That's not hard, I just copy and paste things from other sites.

Looks ok, it'll probably be much more polished upon release. I can imagine this might be a more convenient than using the classic controller and having the wiimote float around on the couch

Ummm, if you notice the patent was filed December 2006. I'm pretty sure if they would have released that it would have been sometime last year.

Well it does look like it has a Wiimote slot so perhaps the only use of the Wiimote is just so you can play in a wireless way. The classic controller plugs into the Wiimote for the same reason.

From what I hear from my sources, it's a Wii Remote add-on controller/adapter to replace the old cabled Classic Controller. The old one was clearly poorly designed by the simple lack of wireless connectivity.

This has now been rectified by this new design and simply connects the Wii remote. Why nobody thought of this in the first place I have no idea!
