I don't have a problem with the Home button per se (just about every gadget that I know has one in some form).

It's just how poorly they designed it.
1.It's hard to find by feel -- you have to look for it. (it should have a raised indentation)
2.It's too stiff.
3.It's laggy and slow to react.

1. Just press the middle! No problems for me.
2. Yeah a little...
3. Blame the OS, not the button

I'm gonna have to disagree with everything that you listed there.

It may be hard to feel (isn't for me), but what you should be doing, is just press in the middle below the bottom screen, boom you hit it. It's not hard.

It's not stiff either. Obviously it being brand new, it's going to take some time for buttons to be worn in. And I don't know how it's laggy for you. Whenever I'm playing Zelda or Face Raiders (I use these programs the most), it pops up right away.

somebody should flag Nintendo about this. don't wait until your Home button dies on you.

Well I doubt the Home button is going to die anyday now. What about the d-pad or tha A-B buttons? Shit, Mario needs to jump around all the time, and I have to use the A button for that to happen. Should I worry about the lifespan of my A button? No. Why? Because it is made to be pressed. Just like the Home button. Interesting, huh?
That is the only comment in this thread that makes sense.
