Personally I don't really bother about the true hardware itself but -

A 3D screen can easily up costs.

Yeah, 3D would be destined to fail. Assuming they used the 3DS' type of 3D (where you have to keep your head in a certain position to get the effect), it would be impossible to maintain if you're constantly looking back and forth from the controller to the tv.
There IS a better way that they could do it, actually.

Are you referring to 3D glasses? That technology is a bit more expensive to implement (if I remember correctly). Plus, glasses can be a big turn off to consumers; one of the biggest draws of the 3DS' 3D was that it didn't need glasses. That doesn't seem like it would be much of an improvement.

No, there was something else I saw that had a dynamic 3D screen and didn't need glasses.

Anything like that is far from being finalized (and really expensive right now); unless they want to start adding zeroes to the cost of the console, that is not a viable option for them.

I could live without the 3D but I'm getting sick of people bashing it for its controller, at least let the freaking launch titles be released before you go and say it wont work out. And like Vamp said, don't just assume because they want to put emphasis on the controller that the hardwares gonna be shit, its a HD console. WHAT THE HELL ELSE CAN THEY SAY ABOUT IT!?

*looks at 3D TV screen* YAY DOING GOOOOOD! *looks at 3D controller screen* Aww... Dang just as I thought it was in the right angle..

3D on a console controller is (for me at least) not very practical. Sure it could have it's uses, but as long as the 3D tech is either glasses or what the 3DS does, it's preferably glasses. Now just let us fiddle around with the console we'll see what all this will lead to. Until then it's just speculation..

They need to stop focusing on "innovation" and give us a good machine with good specs.
I mean, they seem to focus so much on the controller. This may lead to the Wii U having worse specs.
lol, what you want another spec whore like Microsoft or Sony? then who would be left to steal ideas from if Nintendo dropped innovation?

you want next gen consoles to have nothing new except bigger and faster specs? lol.

Did I say that? No. I am saying they should stop trying to make more "innovation", as they may just end up ruining the overall experience.
I mean, seriously, with the 3D tech they are using with the 3DS, I doubt it would work well on a controller like that.
And i honestly do not appreciate such assumptions. Those quotations around "innovation" are there for a reason.

Funny because no one thought this was an "outrageous" demand until Nintendo just got lazy with their specs. No one would be complaining one bit about this if Nintendo essentially launched the Gamesphere with Xbox 360/PS3 level graphics and a traditional controller. Everyone would praise it and no one would care about this so-called "innovation".

F*ck, please no HD/3D display on controller. then these things will be expensive as shit again
if they really want to make 3D controllers possible, make it so that you can link your 3DS or something.

No matter how you guys see it or however crappy their "innovations" may seem to some, bottomline is it's almost usually Nintendo that paves the way for others. If Nintendo dropped that, then every generation of consoles would be nothing more than a rehash of the previous one. I mean, what's an Xbox360 but an upgraded Xbox? What's a PS3 but an upgraded PS2? Can you guys say the same for the SNES and the N64? The Gamecube to the Wii?

Also, I tend to see it this way: it's not like Nintendo is getting lazy with specs, but it's more like they look at what's currently available spec-wise and opt for balance -- performance with affordability. Going all out on specs would obviously drive costs through the roof, essentially cutting their market to none but the most hardcore gamers who can shell out the cash. As a company that's earning solely on gaming, that would be suicide. Sony and Microsoft can afford to go bleeding edge because they have other much more profitable sources of income to backup console development (okay, maybe it's just Microsoft since Sony's apparently floundering on all business fronts). Nintendo can't, and probably won't. But rue the day when they do, because Nintendo will eat the competition if they decide to back their "innovations" with serious muscle.

The way I see it is that you guys just don't understand Nintendo, even after all this time. They've never been much of a follower of "mob mentalism", but more of a trailblazer. Sure, they fail at some attempts, but more often than not they succeed. Sure, the others may improve on some of their "innovations", but a copy is a copy is a copy. And their consoles may not have that much muscle compared to what Sony and Microsoft offers, but I'd say success tends to speak volumes more than muscle.

Nearly all of the games we have right now could have been done on the original Xbox. It just wouldn't look as pretty.
