"The IC is bigger".
What on earth does this mean?
Well, if we were dealing with people who we knew were accurate and who had some idea of what was inside the original cartridges, it would mean that the IC in the cartridge was, well, larger than the original R4's IC.
Given that most people here probably know more about the internals of the R4 than your average VolumeRate staffer, it probably means that there's a bulge out the label side of the R4 that people would notice.
Here's the question I asked Volumerate:

Are these new ones the so-called "R4DS Upgrade-II" version, and if so are you getting them directly from Team R4? The reason I ask is that there is CONSIDERABLE confusion in the marketplace over the likes of the n5 and e7 and a fake R6 and an "R4DS Upgrade-II" product that have been confirmed to use the same hardware.
More recent photographs of this actual version of the product would be appreciated, as would photographs of its internals (*both* sides of the board) in order to minimise the chance of confusion with unauthorised clone products.
Here's the response I got:

We got this also from the R4 supplier.
They said the only difference is this one's chip will be a little bigger than the original one.
That's the only info we got from them.
