I just today got a new wii from ebay and have noticed it has homebrew installed,
The homebrew channel version is beta 9 the wii system menu is at 3.2e,
I was wondering if it would be safe to just start xzxero's guide now and get all the latest stuff and updated to 4.2e,
Please reply.

meh just use the guide and update to 4.2 then atleast u dont have to go and install random ios's to get new games to work =]

the guide is perfectly safe for you to use

If you update your HBC before updating it wont be removed. So just run Hackmii Installer before you follow the guide.

Of course you can, if you update the Systemmenu, the old HBC will be removed anyway. So just follow the guide to get a virgin Wii or install the new version of HBC before updating the Systemmenu. So you dont have to reinstall it later.
Its your choice!

I already answered your question. If you dont remove in manually it will be removed by the update. And no that isnt a problem.

Too late,
I did it and I have 4.2 all working homebrew

I don't recommend you to upgrade your Wii if you're planning to use USB Loaders instead of DVD Launchers.

Your recommendation is a good one, but not necessary. It's perfectly fine to upgrade these days, as 4.2 is fully hacked.

HBC does that when you enable fakesigning on its support IOS. Simply re-install HBC via the HackMii installer, same process you did before. It will not upset any of your other hacks, it will just fix HBC.

make sure your ios61 is NOT patched before (or after) reinstalling the HBC, this will make sure it is not upsidedown

That's not entirely necessary. You should have at least one non-patched IOS, but it doesn't have to be IOS61. For example, on my Wii it's IOS35. My HomeBrew Channel is supported by IOS35 as identified by pressing the home button while in the HomeBrew Channel.
