saw this deal on the egg
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16834114717

was originally gonna get a asus eee 1005HAP but this is only $40 for a full laptop, dual core, better gfx, dvd drive, ect...

not planning on doing anything crazy with it
maybe some old games here and there like GTA vc, (maybe sa if it can run it), and other low end games
generally it will be for school, programming and what not

This thing should be able to handle San Andreas, I mean even the GMA 950 can. Maybe even TF2 in DirectX 8+Ultra low config.

I couldnt find anything on how the athlon II x2 performs against other competitors like the pentium dual core
and core 2 duo and turion x2

I think the radeon 4100 is somewhere around the 9200GT

People have ran TF2 (with tweaks to make the settings go "beyond minimum") on netbooks, so that card should be able to as well.

Only thing you're losing is battery life and good portability.

According to HardForum the 4100 is just a clockspeed bump of the 3200.
Is this laptop OK for games? No. Is this laptop OK for internet/light programming use? Very much so.

Wait for Black Friday, you'll get a much better deal. Go for something with a 9600GT or 9800GT.

there arnt any laptops on my price range that have those powerful cards

there is another toshiba at bestbuy that has a c2d and is the same price on black friday, but I dont want to risk it since the store will only care a few of them ect...

Edit: forget this. "I think you got the processor wrong, it's no Athlon x2 it's just a Athlon = singlecore"
It's a Dual-Core you're right
the HD4200 graphics are quite good for integrated ones...I had a HD3200 one until my laptop died...
I could run CoD 4 on low -med

but I would look for a cheap laptop with a pentium dual-core (T4300 - the same as the C2D T6500 just with 1 MB L2 cache less) and HD4570 graphics, they are about 499 Euro from Acer here in germany...if you wait a bit they may go down in price a bit and you may have some bucks more to spend

I wouldnt go buying acer after seeing this

I dont have money to burn , budget is $400 USD or less (especially not $750)
only reason why im considering this is because it was only $40 more then the netbook I was gonna get, but get a ton more performance (it will actually save me money since I was gonna buy an external dvd drive for ($60) it anyway and a netbook case ($30)
