Fortune has confirmed that the Skyfire safari web browser has been approved and will be making it’s debut Thursday to the App Store. What this web browser does is converts Flash video into H.264 HTML5 video streams.

I remember using it for my WM6.5 smartphone back in the day.

Didn't really like how it renderized websites, but I recall videos working very well on it.

Can't wait to try it on my iPhone.

I personally don't like it. It's slow on my iphone and there is no iPad edition so you have to use the iPhone one and it just looks like shit at 2x. I'll just stick with safari thank you.

Unfortunately, it's been yanked from the App Store for now.

Before you cuss Apple out, it was Skyfire that yanked it, because it caused too much strain on their servers. (It should return though.)

If it works with Hulu then I'm a believer.
I believe I read it does not work with Hulu, or other "premium" services (that was the way it was worded on Engadget, not really sure what sites are "premium": presumably most TV catch up services.)

Looks like a pretty nice little browser for the iPhone though, from the demo video.

Tried it, seems fast enough, but most Flash websites actually don't work.

That's a shame, we have to hope that they'll actually expand Flash support in the next future with the updates.

It probably won't support flash games... That might be a reason why Apple accepted it in the app store.
No, it doesn't, or even actual flash animations, only flash videos are supported (i.e. videos in the FLV format), as they are converted to HTML5 compatible H.264 format by their servers on-the-fly, and then streamed to the phone. That can't happen for games.
