31 March 09: comex has found a bug in the System Menu's banner-parsing code which can be exploited to run unsigned code, even on System Menu 4.0. His unreleased POC loads the Homebrew Channel from NAND (if installed); Video is here. If it can be extended to load a DOL off the SD card, it could replace the TP-hack.

Youtube commentThis is a PREVIEW of an exploit in the system menu that comex found that will let us run custom code on an UN MODDED WII , which means we can basically set up homebrew on a wii without twilight princess, or even a dvd drive. It's just a channel on an SD card. Currently it is just set up to load the HBC but more will come soon.

So is it real, or april fools ?

I wonder if it can install/launch HBC on an unmodded 4.0 ? (although it does say "if installed") This could be very good for some as finding Zelda:TP can be a nightmare for some people.

If this is real, then Ninty will update to 4.1 REAL quick... a bug in the actual system menu that allows unsigned code to run... before you had to at least buy a disc...

Wonder if this is just on 4.0, or if it's there in all other system menu versions! If it's in every system menu, then marcan/bushing just got seriously pwned!

It's obviously on other versions, since that video shows non-4.0 firmware, since there is no SD Card menu.
