Microsoft's now-traditional "Summer of Arcade" continues next month, with a jam-packed schedule seeing the release of five new Xbox Live Arcade titles, among them a brand new Castlevania game from Konami.

That game is the the previously-rumored Castlevania: Harmony of Despair, which is not only a multiplayer side-scroller, but was also designed by series veteran - and whip fetishist - Koji "Iga" Igarashi.

The other four games due for release over five weeks, beginning in July, are Hydro Thunder Hurricane, Lara Croft & The Guardian Of Light, Limbo and Monday Night Combat.

This is decent, but there's a real lack of good XBLA Arcade games announced. Last year they announced a few decent games, but this year there's just this really as far as I can see.

Ugh, hopefully it's released on PSN as well. I don't own a 360 and most likely don't plan on getting one due to the irregular numbers of RRODs. I might just get the new version of the 360 if it's confirmed that this won't be getting a PSN release and if the new hardware doesn't RROD (Or at least not a common problem).

A brand new Castlevania game! HELL YEAH! This is way better than another simple port!!!
I was just wondering what the next installment would be after finishing Dawn Of Sorrow and Portrait Of Ruin! This announcement really makes my day

I'm pretty sure this will be a spin-off, just like Judgment. Shanoa is too far in the past to be in the same game as Soma according to the timeline, unless something like in Judgment happens or if she' became a half/vampire or something.

It could jump around in the timeline.

I remember reading about this here a few months ago. It's definitely not a canon game so that explains the characters.

How in the world could the developers think "Alright we'll take all the main characters of the DS games and merge into one epic game. Now who would love this game the most? I got it! Xbox 360 users! The gamers who have never heard of this game! Brilliant!"
