I am currently trying to replace the lens on my new 3ds xl which has a tiny crack in the middle of the screen and is driving me insane. I’ve been trying to get it to budge with a hairdryer and suction cup but it just won’t lift, not even a little bit so I can prod something under it to get it to lift of completely. Advice would be much appreciated.

I have no idea what you mean by "the lens".

If you have a screen protector, then you will need to remove the screen protector.

If it's a defect in the actual digitizer, then you will have to completely disassemble the unit and buy a new digitizer. I have no idea why you are messing with a hairdryer.

The glue for the top screen lens just goes around the outside edge. Every time I've ever taken one off I've used a razor blade very carefully around the edge. Be very careful to not hurt the screen underneath. When putting the new lens on, use double sided tape to hold it in place and trash the old adhesive. Put the screen in the housing to line up the lens correctly or it can be off kilter and that's super annoying.

Ive only ever needed to bust out a hairdryer on the original 3DS model, as the top area is completely glued on a massive panel very annoyingly, very gluey mess.

The same thing happened to me; the lens won't move at all! A bug died and got stuck in the lens of my New 3ds XL too! I tried to lift it slightly and apply some isopropyl alcohol with a cotton ball, but I couldn't even do that.

And because I'm afraid of ruining another New 3ds XL, I'll have to send one to a professional to replace the lens with another one.

You're not alone.
