Hacking Homebrew New 3DS XL Homebrew

Hello, I'm looking to buy a new 3ds xl and install luma homebrew myself, before i start does the 3ds needs a specific System Firmware to be able to hack it??

I have a new 3ds xl with luma and it is on the latest firmware. I don't think you need to be on a specific firrmware but I could be wrong

As per 3ds.hacks.guide you can hack a 3ds with latest version. I used their guide to hack mine, it's very comprehensive and often updated
