Hardware New 2DS XL slight flicker(?)

I don't know if this is a system issue but I've noticed in Pokémon Diamond that opening the pause in the PokéCenter causes the screen to brighten. Same thing with changing the receiver screen. It only seems to happen when power-saving mode is enabled. Why is this?

While playing NDS, DSiWare, or GBA VC games, press the (HOME) button. While holding the (START) button, you can increase/decrease Screen Brightness with the UP/DOWN d-pad and turn OFF/ON the Auto-Brightness with the LEFT/RIGHT d-pad.

Power saving mode adjusts the backlight depending on the scenes, and it's annoying. I'd turn it off.
