Hi. I've recently updated to *hax 2.5 and ever since then my favorite NES emulator, FCEUMM3DS (the build by Steveice10) began to drop frames like crazy and just run very slow overall, so I changed to libretro's Nestopia. It runs perfectly but it has so many scaling issues. Everything looks sharp sure, but it's so un scaled to the point where Mario's face in SMB3 can't even be recognized, it's just a skin colored smudge. I've tried messing around with the video settings in RetroArch but none of these seem to visibly change anything.

Any tips or solutions? I'm on a new 3ds with 10.1.

Use libretro FCEUMM. FCEUMM3DS to begin with was a beta of the Retroarch port, so the former is the same as the latter, except far improved.

And to begin with, Nestopia was a bugged mess on any build of Retroarch anyways, not recommended. libretro FCEUMM runs fullspeed on any system anyhow.
The reason why the slowdowns appear is because of the way *hax2.5 handles older software, as before, the homebrew would run as fast as the system would allow. Now, homebrew must be specifically marked in it's code for N3DS compatibility to regain the 804mhz mode.

...I ASSUME this is for compatibility reasons, however there were never reports to begin with about homebrew running past the framelimit. It's likely only for N3DS users running O3DS capable homebrew to conserve battery life since the underclocked mode would obviously help with longevity over being consistently overclocked.
But that's simply my tin foil hat theories.

libretro's Nestopia worked fullspeed for me, and so did their FCEUMM port. Both still have the horrendous scaling issues.

Go to Main Menu -> Settings -> Video and change Aspect Ratio Index to "X:X (1:1 PAR)".
*"X:X" being any other aspect ratio, for NES it's 4:3.

..And use FCEumm anyways. Nestopia has graphical hiccups anyhow and doesn't support as much (Consistently anyways).

CIAs are part-broken I believe.
However, this is not the thread for this specific conversation. Might I recommend the main Retroarch thread?

I hate myself. I literally tried every video option available in the RetroArch video menu and none worked, except this one. Apparently I didn't check well enough. Thank you a lot!

What games are you seeing these hiccups and lack of support in? I've yet to see a game that Nestopia isn't running, let alone at 60 fps on N3DS. o.O
