i downloaded a nes rom for nesDS (famicon wars)
when i opened the zip folder there where all these files
they were all the same type (.nes) which one should i use?

also how do patch it for the english translation? i already have the ips file

Depends on what the other files are. List some of the titles.
If they are what I think they are, you'll want the one that has the following somewhere in the title:
(U) and [!]

Edit: I just checked my GoodSet and it was only released in Japan. Go with the T-Eng0.90_akadewboy one.

I wouldn't know which one you should use unless I knew what they were all labeled. To use ips patches you will need Lunar IPS. Get it here

I don't think it matters much which version you use, but if there is a (J)[!] one, use that.

As for the IPS patching.
Try THIS

I think its pretty self-explanatory.

there are these files

Famicom Wars (J) [b1].nes
Famicom Wars (J) [b2].nes
Famicom Wars (J) [b3].nes
Famicom Wars (J) [o1].nes
Famicom Wars (J) [T+Eng0.99_akadewboy].nes
Famicom Wars (J) [T+Eng0.99_akadewboy][b1].nes
Famicom Wars (J) [T+Eng.75a_SkullCastle].nes
Famicom Wars (J) [T-Eng0.90_akadewboy].nes
Famicom Wars (J).nes

Don't use any of the ones with in them. That means they are bad dumps. The[o1] means it's an overdump, which means the file has useless garbage at the end of it making it bigger than it should be. If you want to patch it yourself use the "Famicom Wars (J).nes" Otherwise you can use "Famicom Wars (J) [T+Eng0.99_akadewboy].nes" which has already been patched to English. That's what T+Eng means.
