Get the neogeo.zip with all the bios' in.
Download a MAME rom, e.g mslug.zip
Put those in the same folder as neodsconvert.exe

Make a notepad file with "cmd" written in it, call it 1.bat
Open 1.bat, type "Neodsconvert.exe -bios8 mslug" and it'll make your .neo file, after it does that, put the .neo file in the root of your microSD and run the emu.

I don't think I can link you to the bios zip.. but you can find it on the neods google page if you search

even though you do successfully convert metal slug 4, it's one of the games that does not work.
Metal slug - works, smooth framerate
Metal slug 2 - about 50~55 fps
Metal slug X - just like metal slug 2
Metal slug 3 - freezes randomly
Metal slug 4 - Freezes in the title
Metal slug 5 - major slowdowns in certain areas

Thats BS ^^^^ all those titles work for me... metal slug 4 works 50-55 fps...some slowdowns when too many enemies...Metal slug 4 doesnt work for alot of poeple because they have a bad rom....Most roms sites arent updated and still have the rom for an old version of MAME; Mame updated one time that changed like 4-8 neogeo games... so i suggest find a website with updated versions

All files must be .bin for mslug4 to work. As mentioned, if it contains any .rom files, then it won't work.
Should look like this for Metal Slug 4

Thanks for the result. Save me some time.

Ahh bugger, is there anyway to turn the rom files into bin, or should I just delete and try and find the proper files (suxs, as I downloaded most of the games I wanted and only one was in .bin

All the Metal Slugs work for me. MS3 is missing the text overlays though....you know, score and whatnot, but the game plays fine.

The one game I can't get running is Samurai Shodown 3. It freezes soon after the first fight begins.

I used the universe BIOS deal from here to convert them so I can choose region (choose console, not arcade. Ingramb still has to fix the add coin button for that using this BIOS), plus there are selectable cheats via a key combo.

Normally when the conversion fails, it's because the zip is missing files. I've ran into that problem alot. I just search for the file that's missing and somewhere through google, there is a place with a good rom with all the necessary files. Now emulators on PC are very forgiving (MAME's gotten a lot better about that over the years) than NeoDS, and will attempt to fix or run the rom without a specific file. Sometimes, you get lucky.
