This function is set by the *hax. That's why apparently on some systems it will work and on some others it won't.
Yeah, which is kind of what I expected things to be... So it comes back to how the *hax is setting up what services are available, and it's just not giving things http:C at all in the first place for some people. So, how can we work around this? Is there some way for people to ensure they'll have a service with http:C that can be used to takeover to launch the 3dsx?

Using descriptor is the best way to be sure to get access to http:C . Can be also checked in lpp-3ds with a simple:
Core.checkService("http:C")

But haven't we already determined that Wolvan tried using an xml file with:

<services autodetect="false">
<request priority="1">http:C</request>
</services>

And it didn't work?

Yeah, but if it doesn't work with the descriptor, you can be sure the problem is not in the fact that you don't have http:C access at all at least.
RAR file in OP doesn't have the descriptor so target is "randomly" picked.

I wonder if it's something broke at all in *hax. On NH1.1b lpp-3ds will always perform libkhax to gain access to any service. Maybe we can try to re-run the test using the USE_MEMCHUNKHAX2 build: http://rinnegatamante.it/lpp-nightly.php (It will perform svchax on fw <= 10.7 to gain services access).

The problem with this, is that if you need <= 10.7 I'd be entirely inclined to just say screw it. Those same people can easily move to a CFW and use .cia and never deal with this trouble again.

Also... I can't deal with adf.ly anymore, between the scammy popups and obnoxious shit it throws that break my browser regularly. Can someone else make a new test file with the mch2 3dsx and test it?

People on 10.7 yes, cfw can make it work, but not 11.0 :P

Also what is memchunkhax2. I can't test since i don't onw it.

It's a kernel exploit used to gain access to any services on fw 9.2 - 10.7. For fw 4.1-9.2, libkhax does it in a better way (and that's why libkhax is by default active in lpp-3ds but not memchunkhax2).

Oh, i figured it was some bad name for a game exploit for homebrew enabler. :P

If i was to test it how would i? Could i? I don't need a game right? Well i mean i dunno the actual problem. But i know homebrew loader does have online features, i mean you download a payload with it for crying out loud. Just not sure why this test fails or the CHMM2 online theme browser Doesn't work with homebrew loader.

If you want to try with memchunkhax2, just download the nightly build from the link i posted above of the Kernel Build of lpp-3ds and replace lpp-3ds.3dsx in the test of @ksanislo .
Memchunkhax2 is not 100% reliable, it means it can fail and you'll have to restart the system.

Well long as it doesn't brick i don't mind. :P
