Hacking Need I format my N3DS before downgrading ?

Many tutorials said you should format your n3ds before using safesysupdater,but I still have many legit content,and I don't want to lose my FC and Mii...And while unlinking NANDS,it requires to be formatted...So how to save my data?Thanks a lot(I have searched a lot ,but achieved nothing)

You won't have to format unless you get the update system nag. As for backing up your stuff. Just copy all of your sd card to your pc before creating emunand. Then after creating emunand, simply copy everything back over.
