So, I decided to learn programming c++ , I have a code source editor , which is easy can be done with notepad, but I'm looking for a real great compiler that also comes with a linker, and beginner friendly, I downloaded Turbo borland c++ which seems to be a piece of crap, so can any of our resident programmers help me find a real good one please.

anything that uses a GCC compiler is best.

Dev-C++ is best for windows
for linux I use K-develop

stay away from the microsoft "visual" stuff, it will only cause you problems, it seems to have an odd implementation of some functions.
