Ok, this kind of topic may be old, but I've searched everywhere i can, google, gbatemp search button, but I still can't find a solution to my problem. I have the right cheat file inside the codes folder in my SD card, made from the cheat code manager. When I put my game inside the disk slot, and start up ocarina, then press A, it says rooting game, then No DVD. I think its because im using a burned game. The game works perfectly with the backup loader, but I can't get it to work with cheats. Is there a solution?

Just use the cheats in the backup loader most of them support the option, although you may need to fiddle with the hooks and other settings to get them to work.

Your best bet is Gecko OS its not exactaly like Ocarina but its the next best thing while its still a loader its probably what your looking for. That being said if you just want to do it through any other loader NeoGamma ftw.
