You could if you wanted to. Keeping it updated is never a bad thing.

Just updated it. No noticeable effects.

yes, I remember that. if ur on version 4 of arm9loaderhax (sd card less), it will read off the sd card first. that's y it suggests u remove it before continuing with the tutorial in order to
elicit the configuration menu for version 4 in ctrNAND

Sorry, not sure what you mean. Should I remove one of the arm9loaderhax.bin files?

You could try deleting the one in ctrnand and see if that changes anything.

Maybe try another sd card as well?

If he is able to access his SD card in FBI, you could assume that the 3DS recognizes the SD card correctly, right?

For sure. I'm just throwing out ideas. I mean, this problem doesn't seem to have any logic anyways.

Sometimes you throw ideas at something until one sticks.

Well I just fucked something up big time. I deleted the arm9loaderhax.bin in CTRNAND now my 3ds wont boot. The light flashes blue and just turns off. Should I try a new SD? Did I just brick my 3DS or what? lol My SD is a 64GB formatted to Fat32 I don't know if that makes a difference.

You didn't brick, it's just that a9lh wasn't recognizing your sd at boot after all. So this was your problem.

I would try another sd card.

Well your SD card is not being read correctly. Copy the files over to a new SD card and use that to try and boot. At least we identified the problem, right?

Everything seems to be named correctly. Folder is H:\luma\payloads and contains down_arm9loaderhax.bin, start_Hourglass9.bin, right_Dec9.bin, and up_GodMode9.bin.

I've tried both the stable and hourly versions.

Also when I try to run Decrypt9 or Godmode9 from the homebrew menu the screen flickers red and will go back to the homebrew menu.
Any chance they're named *.bin.bin

the 3ds needs to recognize the arm9loaderhax.bin. I think it looks in the sd card by default, but it then looks in the ctrNAND. the reason ur system flashes on then off is that id doesn't detect the arm9loaderhax.bin at all. this is what it would before version 4 if the arm9loaderhax.bin was corrupted or not present on the root of the SD card. place the arm9loaderhax.bin on ur SD card or try another SD card. ur system isn't bricked.

yes, but now his system won't boot which suggest arm9loaderhax.bin isn't being detected. it's deliberately intended to scan the SD card first in case arm9loaderhax.bin is corrupted or something. my system has the arm9loader_si.bin to allow for animations. there's no arm9loaderhax.bin on the root. and, I don't think it scans for arm9payload.bin in the anim folder anymore. that's been my experience. that might be a prudent question though: @op do u have a boot animation present?
