Get a Supercard CF or M3 CF then. SC actually has much better DS support than GBA. Which is surprising as it was built with GBA in mind.

Besides... You can't play Fire Emblem 6, 7, or 8 on any Slot-1 card!

All the suggestions are going round and round..... Now we are back to using the CF again??

Im was about ready to flash it to lose the welcome screen ( a nice option) but I still need to buy a slot 1 or 2 cart, I need a passme card and I need to buy memory. So either way Im out the dough....

All I wanna do is play my DS & GBA roms on my DS.... I have CF cards available so I would not have to purchase any memory... but the memory is the least expensive part it seems. Round and Round I go???

Relax. The (sad) fact is, you can't find the M3 CF any more (even a second-hand one), and even if you could, it's $70 (less for a used one, but still). And then you need a Passcard to go with it.

Seriously, getting a Slot1/RAM expansion combo is the best solution for the DS.

Hey another thought.... Is there a way to flash the DS without a flash card?? Seems a shame to buy a passme just to flash and never use it again.... Kinda like custome firmware on the PSP I leaning toward the R4 and 3 in 1 solution right now but getting rid of the welcome screen is very appealing to me.....

Yeah, it does seem like a waste, but I keep my Superkey for the chance that I need to run homebrew on my friend's DS or if I need to flash another DS for any reason.

You can flash your DS with the R4. You don't have to, but you can if you want to. There was a way to flash without a passcard, via Download Play, but it required a specific wireless card and custom drivers, and it fou didn't already own that specific brand/model/chipset card, it was cheaper to buy a Passme.

Yes, it's called "micro SD"

You can take an R4 or any similar card, solder wires to the memory card contacts, lead them out of the card, and connect them to a regular SD card and use that as memory, if you really really really want to. You'd have to duct tape the SD card to the DS to stop it from dangling and swinging around.

Hey I had about decided to go with the M3 real with expansion packs when I realized that I have a DS not a DS lite so the expansion packs that come with the M3 Real bundles won't fit my DS.. so im back to square one.
Ideas??

Well, it seems like the m3 real with the gba expansion is going for about the same price as the R4, but I suppose if you can't use the pack it might not be that great, unless you buy the m3, keep the pack and buy another gba pack. If you want you might be able to try cutting the gba pack case up, but that might not be such a great idea.

So you should probably go for a slot-1 and an original ds-sized ez-flash 3-in-1. I personally have an R4 and the 3-in-1 (lite-sized though)
You can flash with slot-1 cards btw, because I think almost all of them come with built-in PassMe, and the R4 already bypasses the warning screen on startup.

Yeah... I see on most of the web sites it says on the 3 in 1 box that it is compatible with the DS and DS lite. I assuming thats function only. Does that mean it will also phyically fit in my DS and in a DS lite?? I see some that are GBA size?? Whats the difference as far as the DS is concerned?? If I decide to get one I want to make sure it will fit my old school DS rig. Thanks Guys

If you want it to work on your DS Phat, then definitely get the Phat-sized version. The Lite-sized one will not fit, and I doubt the Lite-to-Phat adapters for the M3 Lite would fit.

Yea, I looked into that ... Still cheaper to go with R4 + 3 in 1.

I want to open up my ds functions fully... Play most popular roms, Web brower, Pda, Whatever the DS can do.....DO IT ALL....

Is R4 the best solution?
