I unpackacked the rom using the following command.
Code:
ndstool -x Lise.nds -9 arm9.bin -7 arm7.bin -y9 y9.bin -y7 y7.bin -d data -y overlay -t
then repack using this command
Code:
ndstool -c out.nds -9 arm9.bin -7 arm7.bin -y9 y9.bin -y7 y7.bin -d data -y overlay -t
It doesnt matter if I'm editing files or not. The original file is 128MB but recompiles as 87.9MB. What could I be doing wrong?

I tested it on iDeas and on my DS and it didn't load on either

+1 to the trimming of data. As for it not loading ndstool is not the nicest of apps (but it is fairly quick and simple so most of use it at some stage), perhaps:

There are other tools though like ndsts (only able to replace same size files, you can pad files out though), crystaltile2 (has some nice inbuilt compression as well), nitro explorer and plain manual insertion and repointing with a hex editor ( http://nocash.emubase.de/gbatek.htm#dscart...roromfilesystem ).
