Currently, there doesn't seem to be anything available for the DS to emulate the N64 system, but I'm wondering if folks anticipate something coming out soon. If not, what do you see as the limitations to creating such an emulator?

TEH DS CAN RIN DA MARIO64!!!! ITS POSSIBLE!!!! AND REYMONDS WOZ TEH ULTRA64 GEME!!! SO DS CAN RIN TEH 64 GEMEZ!!!

U PPL JUZ DUNT NO NUTHIN!!! UZE IGNORIND!!

Dudes, chill. Its his/her first time... I think.
If I do recall, a source claimed that the DS was on par with the N64. I guess newcomers may be easily fooled by that.
Don't take my word for it though, my mind may be playing tricks on me again..

i thought the DS was in between the 64 and cube, i might be thinking of psp

owell

The DS cant do 3D, It has two 2d engines(one for each screen)The N64 could do 3D. END OF THREAD CLOSE

Generally speaking, you can reliably emulate 2 generations back, which means the DS should play NES as almost 100%, and most SNES games just like the xbox can play almost all SNES games and most N64 games. But the Xbox can't emulate a PS2, and the DS can't emulate an N64

Thanks.

I guess I wasn't expecting such a response, but you are correct. Though I'm in my 30s, pretty much everything outside of the DS mainstream medium is new to me. I am aware of some of the differences between the N64 technology and that of the DS, but I'm no programmer. So, I'm not educated as to what the possibilities are regarding N64 emulation on the DS.

But this thread was a quick, if not poignant, education on the matter

Even if the DS had same engine/hardware as the N64 it wouldn't be able to run N64 games because an emulation requires more resources, read somewhere 7times more than the console you want to emulate to make it smooth.
