What's the best way to go about arcade games on N3DS? And which system boards/platforms can I expect to run well?
Besides obvious hits like Donkey Kong or TMNT, it'd be cool to see less ordinary titles perfected. Diehard fans and their Cave shooters or whatever. I'm out of the loop!

Mame 2000 and the various Final Burn Alpha cores are what run the best, overall. Between them you'll have a nice cross section of old and newer arcade boards emulated reasonably well. The stand alone FBA core does the mid-late '90s Toaplan / Cave 68000 based stuff really nicely but you'll need to get used to playing in vertical mode if you want to keep the video uncompromised.

I wouldn't worry about being out of the loop for N3DS arcade emulation because I don't think there's been much in the way of progress since early 2016.

If your talking arcade then there is i heard a MAME 2000 core for the 3DS. I think some other MAME cores are also available but you would have to check on Libretro's Downloads website. Head to Nintendo and then 3DS and check it out for yourself. They're properly named so you'll be able to tell.
