Hacking My R4 Problem

I just bought my R4 and received it from DealExreme for $30

everything is great but the micro sd (kingston TW) sticks out a bit. the r4 doesnt even fit in the case it came with
my R4 doesnt seem to be spring loaded...has anyone experienced this before?

any help would be great appreciated

Sounds like your Micro SD slot is faulty, it should click in an out when you press it. The card shouldn't stick out - it should be near enough flush. I'd remove the screw from the R4 and remove the outer case and try to push in the micro SD in and out a few times to see if it frees up a bit.

My R4 doesn't have a spring, my microSD slides in, and I have to pinch it and pull it out. I opened my R4 and took a look inside, I tried putting my microSD in, no springy action. odd.

EDIT: ahh nvm, I fiddled with it, I have a spring, yay!

some of the R4's spring dont clamp down, watch this guy try to stick a micro sd card in, the spring shoots his micro sd card into the air since its defective, lol he ordered 2 of them and both are defective.

When I first got my R4 (not even a month ago) the spring would make a very loud click when inserting the microSD. Now it makes a barely perceptible click and if I push it in too far it will just eject back out. I have to push slowly until I hear the light click and then stop pushing to have it hold the microSD.

I fear that eventually the slot won't hold the card at all. It's unfortunate too because the R4DS is a great card with awesome compatibility.

i dont have a small enough screwdriver to take the screw out...will the mini screw driver for eye glasses due the trick?

im heading out to wal-mart later today so i might as well pick 1up

i took out the spring of my r4ds and now i works again, but its very hard to take the microsd out now, i have to use plyers.
