Which OS(i will run more than one) should i run?

How should i size my partitions?

What are your computer specs? It'll help determine what's the best OS for you. Ram, cpu etc.

If running Windows I'd partition a small partition for Windows itself. Then use the remainder for storage, games and so on. If you have to format your Windows partition your other partition will be fine.

Windows 7 can take 20GB for the 32bit version and 40GB for the 64bit version. Vista is usually around 20GB. XP tends to be 10GB or lower. 2000 tends to be around 6-8GB. Linux has various sizes, but I don't use them so I can't be specific. Same for MacOS.

Run whichever OS suits the system. All will fit without problems, but there's no point trying to put Vista on a Pentium II system.

Personally I would keep the entire drive for windows and add a terabyte for storage (as I've done for an old 40GB drive in an older computer - it's got 120GB and three 500GB drives in it as well.

Haha. I recall reading something similar to that. The article I read claimed it took 18 hours to install and 17 minutes for a first reboot. Ouch!

Intel Celleron 2.4GHz
1GB SDDDR RAM
Integrated VGA Graphics
SB! Live HD Sound Card
40GB HDD

Currently Running OS: Ubuntu 10.04 (just temporarily until i decide, and it is installed, no live-cd)

I'd stick to Ubuntu or if you want some version of Windows, XP. The hardware is pretty old for anything much newer. You could possibly try Windows 7 if drivers were available for everything.

Go for windows 2000 if you want speed, but also windows XP if you want speed+compatability.

But definitely i won´t recommend windows 7 as you don´t have at least P4+Hyper threading and 2GB of ram. However you could try windows 7 + 512MB USB stick with ReadyBoost, a good combo.

20gb for the 64bit ver of win 7 as well. running ultimate x64 on a 40gb hdd.

Like most said, it totally depending on what your using it for and what the other specs are

I suggest XP Vista or 7 but the again Ubuntu isnt bad either
