My computer hates me

I'm having issues with my laptop. I have windows 7 ultimate installed, and a seagate harddrive with a fat 32 and ntfs partition. For some reason, every few days, it fails to read the fat32 partition, or very rarely, it won't read it altogether. So when I system restore, it works for a while, and then the cycle repeats. And ever since I system restored, my desmume emulator resets the firmware, and it's like I'm turning on a DS for the first time. when I get done with the setup, it powers off and when I try to load a game, it does the same thing.

Check a few things

1) Run task manager and check CPU and memory usage while using dsemu. See if it hits a certain threshold in cpu cycles or memory before crashing. Could be that a memory stick is bad. If you suspect so, then take one module out, retest, swap slots, retest, etc.
2) is the fat drive the system drive?
3) run a full checkdisk on your hd

The fat drive is just a partition on the external hardrive with all my games and stuff.
Also, the harddrive needs to be plugged in when I boot up, otherwise it won't be read at all

Ok wait so I'm a bit confused. Is the FAT32 an external drive? While your internal drive is NTFS?

Also you can't plug in the hard drive once the system is booted?

I have a seagate external harddrive.
In that seagate external harddrive are two partitions.
Fat 32, and ntfs.

And you are correct on the last part
