Gaming Multiple Saves on HG/SS

It looks like we can now have three different saves on pokemon, when opening HG/SS my save is listed in as one of three and when i push one of the other two a new game starts! this is great and a first for pokemon right? I know my Diamond only allows one save.

It creates a new game because you're clicking in the New Game button.
